Vintage Nest

Image
You just can't beat a vintage nest of tables, solid wood, well made and can be brought up to date easily to any style Love these old tables. When my mum moved to Bulgaria to live with me we kept some of her vintage bits n bobs and I just love them. I mean where can you buy this quality brand new? Certainly if you find quality solid wood it will break your wallet! So grab a couple of pots of Frenchic® paint and make those beauties gorgeous. Start by giving your vintage tables a good clean with Sugar soap. I use a kitchen sponge with the scrubby side. The reason, all the dirt, grease and polish over all those years will not be good for your new surface, it will chip and flake off. Once washed and rinsed I dry it then give it a sand, just a light sand to give a key, wipe down, then were ready. I've painted these in three different colours with stencil designs, again three different designs. Don't be afraid to put colours together but if your not into colour try dif

Take One MDF Box

I want to show you, through my blog, what you can do with ®Frenchic paint.       From ugly old damaged, bare bones and plain boring, you can completely transform.  So take one blank MDF handmade cupboard to make into something, anything. Maybe you have a design in your head, I rarely do but I knew this needed some mouldings to give it something. First step was a light base coat, then I chose some mouldings and trim so it wasn't so flat and a couple more for character. These mouldings are a traditional design but that doesn't mean you end up with a traditional cupboard! In fact she screamed Bohemian, of course! Lots of colours went into her, one of which is really not in my colour spectre, in fact it's on my hate list, here though was a coat of Victory Lane (GREEN) I DID PANIC A FAIR BIT, but it does not stick out and adds to the overall effect. I guess I'm trying to say, don't be a scared cat like me. It is after all only paint and can be painted over.

Vintage Bulgarian Bar

Image
I first saw this little bar advertised on Facebook. It was very plain and very confusing but I just knew I could have fun with it. I've not quite finished it yet but it's very decorative and something I think that will go well in my living room once that is also finished. Yep lots of finishing to do here. Frenchic had just produced Dusky Blush, a beautiful vintage pink in the Al Fresco paint range and I simply loved it. I wanted to take this very masculine dark brown ugly Duckling & make it beautiful I started by painting outside with Dusky Blush, Al Fresco, then blended with Nougat. I added mouldings to give it some character and stop it being so flat. I love the look but then I added some foils to lift it even more. This is a girls house so I didn't take men into consideration but the biggest fan of this piece is a male friend of mine. Inside I went bold with Pea Soup, a fabulous colour overlooked by many. Lots of Finishing coat to seal and then stencilled i

Another Step Completed, Dining Room Mum's Bedroom Area

So, yet another step is completed in the kitchen/diner renovation. It's all very exciting seeing colours coming together but I'm still second guessing myself. Fortunately this step, which is wallpaper looks fabulous. It gives depth to the room and lifts it from being flat. I'm over the moon with it. I'm not going to show anymore photos as I want the full effect to be seen all together, but here is a sneaky peak. This is my Petchka, wood burner if your not in Bulgaria. Luc is going to make me a stone fire surround which will come up to the paper. And here is your peak of the paper, that's all your getting, for now 😉 My mum will be 96 in August, she has her bed area in what was the dining room. It was cumbersome and small, did the job but not a comfortable room.  Now I'm able to make this nicer for her. First thing was to stop using the kitchen door, it's no longer needed due to knocking the wall out. Once I paint the walls the door will be pa
