And We're Off

Image
Here we go, L shaped sofa bed going/gone. Sad about this as it was soooooo comfortable, but the dogs had wrecked it, so it had to go. It will be picked up by a less fortunate family and won't go to land fill. Kitchen worktop cut and units moved ready for the wall to be cut out, I can't tell you how excited I am! I'm still working on my cookbook cupboard, but it's come to a halt to get the bigger jobs done. Once the wall and sofa is out I can start work again on it while the plastering is happening. Well the L sofa bed has gone, gone, gone! Yahooooo Right now we have a hole in the hole and, yep I'm really flipping excited.  There was a little problem, we didn't realise there were two electric plug sockets as the sofa was in the way.  In Bulgaria you just never know how they have done electrics and plumbing as it's always encased in plaster or concrete and they do things really strangely here, you just don't know what

Reno, Kitchen makeover

Yahoooooo here we go Nothing makes me happier than renovating my homes. So far this house has had, a new upstairs shower room a paint job in one area inside, a new pellet boiler heating system, new decking around the swimming pool and a conservatory built. The rest of the work has been, fixing problems like waterproofing the terraces, fixing leaks and the utility room tiled roof. The kitchen is horrid, with water damage in the kitchen and utility. It was workable, although the layout of the downstairs just didn't work for me. There is a huge living room, then double doors leading into an open sitting room/dining area with another door into the kitchen, which has a open hole in the wall serving no use at all other than being able to talk while cooking. The dining area has become a bedroom area for my 95 Yr old mum, so now we have nowhere to entertain. The time has come to convert This area into what fits my personality. Having no money to get a "new kitchen" I'm

Take One Battered Vintage Suitcase

Image
Take one battered Vintage suitcase There is a fabulous couple on Facebook who sell all kinds on vintage items. Bulgarian, Russian, chech and many other Eastern European (now) items. These are genuine communist era antique and almost antique. I Adore his cases and love to turn them into pieces of art. Painting, textureising, adding rice papers and mouldings I just love This old case, it's smallish and I had no idea what I was going to do when I started her. The only thing I knew was that I would add a paper and possibly some trim.  I just love the way they have their own personality I started by choosing the paper then I just didn't know what colour to use, Frenchic have some lovely colours and a huge choice of Greys all with different undertones. I blended and stippled until I was happy.  If you are going to decoupage a piece make the first layer a light colour as this will show through your paper. I also add crackle before the paper. When this shows through th
